Interview Real Estate Agent

How to interview a Realtor ?

Finding a Realtor is sometimes a difficult task for a buyer or seller. Just like any service, you can always ask your family or friends for referrals. Be sure to interview a few agents to compare them and choose the one that best suits you and your interests.

Choose a Realtor that you feel comfortable with, someone who listens, who asks intelligent questions, and shows a genuine interest in helping you. Avoid signing any contract when you first meet with a Realtor . Wait until you fell confident you have made the best choice. It's important that you make the right decision about who will handle one of the biggest deals you will make.

You must ask the following questions when interviewing a Realtor

1.     Are you a licensed Realtor ?

It s seems like a silly question, but not all agents are members of a Realtor Association, and they are not avowed to uphold the profession's code of ethics. Furthermore members have access to the MLS (Multiple Listing Service ) and can list your home or search through thousands of properties to find a list of those that meet your specific needs.

2.   For how long have you been in the business?

This question stimulates to talk about not just years in practicing, but how productive they have been. Some agents with less time in business may have more experience than others who had been working for long time. Ask if they are full-time Realtors . Part-timers can t always help you.

3.   Do you have certifications, or special training?

Agents learn as much as they can about the real estate business with continuous education. You are looking for their overall commitment to their career. If they are indifferent to improve themselves, they may not accomplish your needs. Look for their ability to keep up with technology and industry trends. Also ask for negotiation and financial skills.

4.  How many homes are you listing or selling in this moment?

This question gives you an idea of how busy the agents are and if they will be able to concentrate on you. Some agents work with partners or assistants who can help you as well. Ask also for references to call. An agent should share names of satisfied clients as references to assure the service you are looking for.

5.    Do you have a specific marketing plan?

If you're a seller, you want to know marketing strategies and how to price your home correctly. Agents must have a specific plan to show you, accompanied by some of their marketing materials. Ask for an Internet presence. Will there be a photo and description of your house? Do you provide virtual tours? Do you have an appointment center which handles and confirms all showings?

Make a list of the items you are most concerned with. Ask those questions until you are satisfied with the answers. Then when you are finished, you will know you have chosen the best individual to assist you.
